Frances 'Frankie' Lorraine Lehl

CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Frances Lorraine Lehl, 84, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

She was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Wilbert and Irene (Ween) Davis.

In 1944, she married Lawrence Martin Dowd. To this union were born three sons, Lawrence Martin, Jr., David Lee and James Francis. The marriage ended and Frankie moved to Culbertson, Nebraska in 1963. In 1965, she moved to McCook, Nebraska. She married Henry (Hank) John Lehl in 1967.

She and Hank enjoyed going to auctions, camping and fishing, attending car races and Nebraska football. Frankie collected cats and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Hank died in 1997. Frankie continued to reside in McCook until 2008 when she moved to the Cambridge Manor.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; and her sister, Shirley Finch.

Surviving family includes her sons, Lawrence "Larry" Dowd and wife, Lois Ann of McCook, David Dowd of Sarasota, Florida, and James Dowd and wife, Anne of Indianola, Nebraska; brother, Wilbert Davis and wife, Nancy of Woodridge, Virginia; sisters, Janet Berube of Delfar, Washington, Ann Minary and husband, Kenneth of Culbertson, Nebraska, and Carol Runge and husband, Robin of Culbertson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the McCook Humane Society.

Memorial services are Friday, June 10, 2011, 2 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. A private family inurnment is at a later date.
