CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Joeann F. ten Bensel, 77, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1933, near Milan, Missouri, on the family farm, to Othel and Goldie (Shatto) Forrester. The family moved to North Platte, Nebraska when she was seven years old. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in North Platte at the age of 10. Joeann attended and graduated from North Platte High School in 1951. While in high school, Joeann was active in the Symphony Orchestra, playing the viola, and Y-teens, a Christian youth group.

On Aug. 10, 1952, she was united in marriage to Paul D. ten Bensel. Joeann worked in North Platte at the Brown-McDonald Clothing Store and for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company while Paul was serving in Korea.

The couple moved to a farm south of Cambridge and raised their family. She was active on the farm helping with chores.

She was a 4-H leader, member of the Wilsonville Baptist-Christian Church.

She enjoyed family events, crocheting, making afghans for all the family membes, quilting, and baking cookies for kids. She was an avid reader and loved to bowl in leagues.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant twin brothers.

Joeann is survived by her husband, Paul of Cambridge; three daughters, Jane and husband, Jim Ransdell of North Platte, Julie and husband, Rick Schram of Newcastle, Nebraska, and Lori and husband, Mike Unger of North Platte; two sons, Steve and wife, Michelle of Minden, Nebraska, and Eric and wife, Leah of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren, Justin and Jamie Ransdell, Tony and McKenna ten Bensel, Nicole, Melissa, Patrick, Matthew, Blake and Jessica Schram, Nathan Unger, Caleb and Megan ten Bensel; three sisters, Mary and husband, Ralph Anderson of North Platte, Peggy Ward of Clive, Iowa, Phyllis and husband, Larry Ransdell of Omaha, Nebraska; three brothers, Tom and wife, Barb Forrester of McAllen, Texas, Bob Forreseter of North Platte; Rex and wife, Carole Forrester of Maricopa, Arizona.

Funeral services are Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 2 p.m., at the Wilsonville Baptist-Christian Church with Keith Theobald officiating. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

There is no public viewing.

Friends may sign the memorial book at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
