Ruby Roesener

IMPERIAL, Nebraska -- Ruby Myrtle Roesener was born Nov. 9, 1912, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to William and Annie (Wakefield) Thompson. Ruby grew up and attended grade school in Benkelman where she also received her G.E.D. Ruby then attended LPN school at Alliance, Nebraska, along with her longtime friend Ada Nordhausen.
On Oct. 16, 1935, Ruby married August William Roesener in McDonald, Kansas, at the Roesener family farm. To this union four children were born: Phyllis, John, Eldon, and Dallas. The couple first settled four miles north of McDonald, Kansas, before moving on to Benkelman and Colorado in the 1940's. In 1981 they moved into their new home in Holdrege, Nebraska, where they resided for 20 years. Ruby then made her home in Imperial, Nebraska, in 2001 to be near her family.
Ruby passed away early Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial. She was 98 years of age.
Ruby had many hobbies including crocheting, playing bingo, cooking, canning, and gardening. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Ruby especially loved spending time with her family and playing cards. Ruby was a 4-H leader and was a member of several garden clubs and Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband August in 1991, one grandson, Scott Raile, brother, Carl Thompson, sisters, Leona Pickett and twin sister Florence Jussel.
Survivors include: her son, John Roesener and wife Barbara of Plainfield, Wisconsin; daughter, Phyllis Raile and husband, Larry of Imperial, Nebraska; son, Eldon Roesener and wife, Edwina of Benkelman, Nebraska; son, Dallas Roesener and wife, Ada of Juniata, Nebraska; grandchildren, Deb Leibbrandt and husband, Steve, Candy Colson and husband, Larry, Butch Raile; Randy Roesener and wife, Cindy, Jana Pribbeno and husband, Mike; Russell Roesener, Tammra Jenkins and husband, Roger, Peggy Parker and husband, Spencer, Douglas Roesener, Mathew Roesener and wife, Michelle, Jennifer Humann and husband, Brian and Kristina Clawson and husband, Eric; four step-granddaughters; great-grandchildren, Lisa Smith and husband, Jerod, Cyndi Weiss and husband, Dustin, Scott Leibbrandt and wife, Maika, Colt Colson, Nick Colson, Luke Raile, Amanda Coffey and husband, Justin, Brandi Roesener and David Contreras, Leslie Pribbeno, Tyler Pribbeno, Morgan Jenkins, Tessa Roesener, Riley Roesener, Christian Roesener, Andrew Roesener, Brett Roesener, Heidi Roesener, Dustin Humann,Kira Humann, Dalton Humann, Jane Clawson, and Oliver Clawson; nine great-great-grandchildren.; seven step great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Paul Roesener and wife, Edna of Bird City, Kansas and Arlie Roesener and wife, Nadine of Springfield, Missouri.
Funeral Services for Ruby Roesener were Wednesday morning, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment followed at the Benkelman Cemetery.
