Ernst Weber

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Ernst Weber, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
Ernst was born in Brunenthal, Germany to the late Fred and Katherine (Engel) Weber Sr. When he was ten months old, his family immigrated to the United States. After sailing to Ellis Island and receiving clearance to enter the country, they joined other family members already settled in Culbertson, Nebraska.
He attended District 8 in rural Culbertson and Culbertson High School. He graduated in 1944.
In January of 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, where he served in the amphibious forces in the Atlantic fleet, with duty in the E.T.O. until July 1946. Ernst served on LST 510.
He married Roselene Bedore on Feb. 10, 1948, in Trenton, Nebraska. To the union five children were born.
Ernst and Roselene farmed for 30 years near Culbertson, Trenton and Stratton, Nebraska. After Ernst sold the farm near Stratton in 1976, he sold cars for Anderson Motors. In 1977, he purchased a laundromat and dry cleaning business in Nevada, Missouri. While living there, he was also was a sales associate for Strout Realty, Inc. Ernst retired in 1988 and returned to McCook.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Ernst was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Denis and Lionel Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Roselene of McCook; son, Tilden Weber of McCook; daughters, Erlene Madsen and husband, Monte of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Angela Wilson and husband, John of House Springs, Missouri; brother, Fred Weber Jr. and wife, Bonita of Culbertson; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name.
Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 2 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the praying of the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
