Elsie L. Goodnight

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Elsie L. Goodnight, 89, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

She was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Decatur County, Kansas to Edward and Lilly Grace (Davis) Pavlicek. She was raised on a farm in Decatur County and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1938.

After she graduated she lived in Decatur County and Oberlin, where she owned and operated the Oasis Restaurant.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Deactur County Saddle Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Young; son, Dennis Young; brother, Ralph Pavlicek; granddaughter, Sheila Lynn Vaugh; and brother-in-law, Glenn Mott.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Young of Oberlin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday, 4 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Mr. Jim Plotts officiating. Interment is in Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, 8 a.m. until the service.
