SCOTIA, Nebraska -- Mari Ann Emmett, 66, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Tiffany Square Care Home in Grand Island, Nebraska.
She was born July 30, 1944, in Hastings, Nebraska to Joe and Mary (Serf) Weiler. She was raised in Hastings and graduated from Hastings St. Cecilia High School.
She later moved to Grand Island where she was able to pursue her career in retail sales. She was employed at Maurices Clothing Store for 25 years before retiring as store manager in 1997.
While living in Grand Island, she was active with the PTA and was a persistent fund raiser for the American Diabetes Association.
In 2005, she married Scott Emmett, and the couple made their home in Scotia until her health caused her to move to Tiffany Square where she lived until her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Sommers.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Emmett of Scotia; sons, Michael Snyder of Grand Island and wife, Michelle Snyder of Chapman, Nebraska, Richard and wife, Jody Kinman of Leigh, Nebraska, and Christopher Snyder of Grand Island; step-son, Shawn and wife, Marcella Emmett of McDonough, Georgia; sister, Nan and husband, Jay Grawe of Quincy, Illinois; brother, Joe and wife, Jane Weiler of Berryton, Kansas; mother-in-law, Grace Emmett of Auburn, Nebraska; one grandson; and five step-grandchildren.
Memorial services are Thursday, 9 a.m., at Scotia United Methodist Church. Graveside services are Thursday, 4 p.m., at the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, Nebraska with the Rev. Bruce Phillips officiating.
Viewing and visitation is Thursday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe.
