WICHITA, Kansas -- Linda Lorraine (Gohl) Wudtke, 66, passed away Saturday (March 19, 2011), at her home in Wichita following her heroic battle with cancer.

Linda was born Dec. 12, 1944, to Arnold F. and A. Virginia (Wilson) Gohl at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook, Nebraska. She attended and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1963. She worked as a clerk for the county extension office after graduation.

In August 1965, Linda was baptized into the Lutheran faith, and later confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. While living in Wichita, she was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church.

Linda was united in marriage to Dennis L. Wudtke on Oct. 25, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee. Two children were born to their union, Tamra Jean and James Brian. The family made their home in many different locations before settling in Wichita in 1998.

During her lifetime, Linda served her Lord through Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), the Altar Guild, and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the churches Linda had membership. She was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Wichita, the Toastmasters, the VFW Auxiliary in Bartley, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Linda also worked as a financial advisor and tax preparer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Virginia; paternal grandparents, Gottlob and Louisa Gohl; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Elizabeth Wilson; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dennis Wudtke of Wichita; daughter, Tamra (Tim) Davis of Wray, Colorado; son, James (Christine) Wudtke of Johnson City, Tennessee; brother, Harlan (Pam) Gohl of Strafford, Missouri; grandchildren, Isaac, Isaiah, Gideon and Jotham Davis of Wray, and Elisabeth and Ruth Wudtke of Johnson City; mother-in-law, Leona Wudtke of McCook; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Linda Wudtke Memorial Fund to benefit the Harry Hynes Hospice at 313 South Market, Wichita, KS 67202; or Victory in the Valley at 3755 East Douglas Avenue, Wichita, KS 67218.

Funeral services were Tuesday at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N Tyler Rd, Wichita with Pastor Goltl officiating.

A separate funeral service was at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home of McCook today with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
