Alice B. Vaughn

GOTHENBURG, Nebraska -- Alice Beulah Vaughn passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska at the age of 89.
She was born Dec. 26, 1921, at Stockville, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Cordy and Ollie (Pickle) Crawford. Alice grew up on a farm south of Stockville and graduated from Stockville High School.
On Oct.9, 1945, Alice married Dean Elliott Vaughn at Oberlin, Kansas. They farmed for several years south of Curtis, Nebraska before moving to McCook in 1952.
Alice worked for many years in home maintainance, cleaning homes for many families in McCook, she became close friends and a member of the families she worked for.
Alice and Dean loved dancing and attended every dance they could in Kansas and Nebraska.
Her talents and interests included crafts, upholstery, gardening, sewing and scrap booking articles of the area history. Her life centered around her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dean on Feb. 5, 1987; and her six brothers, Harley, Albert, Joe, Clarence, Phil and Wilbur "Pete" Crawford.
Alice is survived by two daughters, Ilene Pruett and husband John of Garden City, Michigan and Patsy Castor and husband, Douglas of Glendale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kellie (Dennis) Brack, Shanda Betzold, Nicole (Shawn) Rundle, Crystal Allman, Jason (Rachel) Allman; 13 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Austin, Shayla, Brandyn, Charity, Jordan, Ethan, Taylor, Tatum, Tegan, Brett, Christian and Hanna; relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Raymond Durner officiating, Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Visitation is from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Thursday and Friday. Memorials may be given in her name and left at the Funeral Home.
