Donald 'Butch' Stanley

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Donald DeWayne "Butch" Stanley, 67, died Thursday (March 3, 2011), at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Wilsonville, Nebraska, to Paul and Darlene (Dillan) Stanley. He was raised on a farm near Wilsonville along with a brother and a sister. He attended a country school and graduated from Wilsonville High School.
On Aug. 6, 1972, he married Helen Delores Chambers in Oberlin. They made their home in Lebanon, Nebraska, until 1976 when the couple moved to her parents' farm 21 miles northeast of Oberlin. They farmed and raised their three daughters on the farm. He also was a self-employed truck driver. He remained on the family farm until 1996 when he moved to Oberlin.
He attended Prairie Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on Nov. 28, 1988;his parents; and a brother, Phillip Stanley.
Survivors include his three daughters, Christina Stanley of Mitchell, South Dakota, Carrie and Dan Morford of Oberlin, and Kellie Stanley and Brandon Tice of Oberlin; two siblings, Douglas and wife, Ilene Stanley of Haysville, Kansas, and Pat and husband, Ray Tuller of McCook, Nebraska; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were today, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Kurt Kasson officiating. Burial is in the Oberlin Cemetery.
