BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Lynn N. Youngquist, 69, died Tuesday (March 1, 2011), at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Oxford, Nebraska to Joseph and Lela (Christian) Youngquist. He grew up in Beaver City and attended Beaver City Schools until 1955 when his family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from University High School in Lincoln, Nebraska with the class of 1960. He attended the University of Nebraska and Kearney State College following high school graduation.

He married Sharon Huston on Nov. 4, 1967, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple moved following marriage to the Youngquist home place north of Beaver City.

He served six years in the U.S. National Guard but wasn't activated.

He farmed all of his life in Furnas County, Nebraska. He sold life insurance for a number of years. He was also a salesman of farm seeds, being district manager for Hoegemeyer Seeds at the time of his death. He also continued to help his son farm until his death.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Beaver City and served on the church board. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge, Furnas County Fair Board and was Nebraska District Fair Manager at one time. He also served on the Nebraska and National Grain Sorghum Growers Association and the Beaver City School Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of Beaver City; son, Eric Youngquist and wife, Teresa of Beaver City; daughter, Julie and husband, Michael Jorgensen of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, Jon and wife, Mary Youngquist of Beaver City; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Michael Flury officiating. Burial will follow services at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.

Visitation and viewing is Friday, 1-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Saturday at the church.
