BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Ward C. Bundy, 83, died as a result of a farm accident Wednesday (Feb. 16, 2011), on his farm.

He was born July 1, 1927, in Almena, Kansas to Ray and Edna (Luther) Bundy. He attended rural grade school at District No. 90, and graduated from Almena High School in 1945.

He started farming following graduation until was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served nearly one year, discharging on Dec. 12,1951. Following his discharge he continued to farm.

He married Myrna M. Rupp on Sept. 1, 1957, in Holdrege, Nebraska. They lived in various towns in Furnas County before settling on their farm north of Beaver City. He worked a couple years for Jerry Warner moving dirt before he started his own dirt moving business which he practiced for more than 30 years. He retired in the mid-80s from his dirt moving business and continued to farm until 1990 when he retired from farming.

He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beaver City, where he was baptized in November of 1950 and served as a Deacon for many years. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 28 of Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Beaver City; sister, Jean Tauscher of Beaver City; and several cousins.

Funeral services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Lawrence Francis officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.

Viewing and visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Tuesday at the church.
