ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- AnnaBelle Lewis, 92, died Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2011), at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born July 4, 1918, near Beaver City, Nebraska, on the family farm to Erwin B. and Gertrude E. (Manley) Kentfield. She grew up and graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1936. After high school she taught for a few years.
She married Carl Lewis and together they had three children. They lived on the farm south of Arapahoe for many years and then moved into town. She worked at Life Bakery in Arapahoe.
In August of 1960, they moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado and later to Denver, Colorado. While in Fort Morgan, she worked for the Congress Motel and was a manager for the Country Club Gardens Apartments in Denver.
The couple later divorced and she moved back to Arapahoe. She worked at the Arapahoe Public Housing Authority for several years. She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Hollinger, Nebraska in her youth and later a member of the Arapahoe Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vesta Inman, Olive Grimsley, and Virginia Smith; and brother, Merlin Kentfield.
She is survived by her son, Norman and wife, Karen Lewis of Edison, Nebraska; daughters, Sheridan and husband, Walter Mueller of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Patty Britt of Glendale, Arizona; brother, Lawrence and wife, Ruth Kentfield of Beaver City, Nebraska; sisters, Helen and husband, Dean Weaver of Stamford, Nebraska, and Marian Gwin of Longmont, Colorado; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Arapahoe Christian Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. David Welch officiating. Burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.
Viewing and visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe.
