McCOOK, Nebraska -- Thomas Michael O'Neil, 60, passed away Thursday (Jan. 27, 2011), at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was born in McCook on March 30, 1950, to William P. and Catherine M. (Boehm) O'Neil. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School. While there, he served as an altar boy and played basketball on the Knight's team. He was a 1967 Golden Glove Boxer.

Tom married Marilynn G. Funk in McCook on May 31, 1969, to this union two children were born.

Tom graduated from McCook High School in 1970.

In 1974, he joined his father in the business at Swanson Signs.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing poker and riding his motorcycle.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, William P. O'Neil; brother, Daniel O'Neil; and three infant grandsons.

Tom is survived by his wife, Marilynn O'Neil of McCook; children, Joshua O'Neil of Fort Worth, Texas, and Bridget O'Neil of Grand Island, Nebraska; mother, Catherine "Katie" O'Neil of McCook; brothers, Timothy O'Neil of Queens, Arizona, and Dennis O'Neil of Goodland, Kansas; five sisters, Peggy Rogers and husband, Dick of McCook, Patricia "Patty" O'Neil of Denver, Colorado, Rosemary Dack and husband, George of East Helena, Montana, Annie Carlson and husband, Alan of Johnstown, Colorado, and Maureen O'Neil of Grand Island; one granddaughter, Alissa O'Neil of McCook; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mass of Christian burial are Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour as celebrant. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary is today, 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation is today until 7 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
