OBERLIN, Kansas -- Marie Jean (Hickert) Vavroch, 82, died Dec. 11, 2010 in Oberlin.

She was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Jennings, Kansas.

She was a homemaker and former teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley; parents, Henry and Theresa (Robben) Hickert; and two brothers, Marcellus and Norman Hickert.

She is survived by her sons, Allan Vavroch of Manhattan, Kansas, and Kevin Vavroch of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter, Janice Doyle of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Emory Hickert of Clearwater, Florida, and Gordon Hickert of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; and sisters, Ida Hoover of Lade Lake, Florida, Elizabeth Richards of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Elinor Wiltfon of Norton, Kansas.

Funeral services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. Inurnment is in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home in Oberlin with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Decatur Health Systems.
