ST. FRANCIS, Kansas -- Edwin William Henry Meyer, 99, died Saturday (Jan. 15, 2011), at Cheyenne County Hospital in St. Francis.

He was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Smyrna, Nebraska.

He was a farmer and rancher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (Wright) Meyer; and great-grandson, Rick Straub.

He is survived by his son, Dave Meyer of St. Francis; daughter, DeEtta Knorr of St. Francis; brothers, Everett Meyer of Hastings, Nebraska; sister, Alice Janssen of Greeley, Colorado; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services are Wednesday, 2 p.m. CST, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bird City, Kansas. Interment is in the Bird City Cemetery.

Visitation is today, 1-7 p.m., at the Knodel Funeral Home, and Wednesday prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Senior Center.
