WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Steve Jussel, 56, died Sunday (Jan. 16, 2011), at the Denver Hospice and Patient Care Center in Denver, Colorado.

He was born July 11, 1954, at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook, Nebraska, to Bernadene "Bunnie" and Leroy Jussel. He grew up in Wauneta, where he attended grade school and Wauneta High School in 1972.

He started working in well drilling and irrigation in the mid-70s and traveled to Saudi Arabia in the late-70s to work on a government sprinkler project. After that he worked for Grosch Irrigation. He was the branch manager in Imperial, Nebraska for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and son, Danny Joe Jussel.

Survivors include his parents, Leroy and Bunnie (Bernadene) Jussel of Wauneta; son, Chris Jussel and wife, Jamie of Imperial; daughters, Faith Franckie and husband, Dustin of Paxton, Illinois, and Hope Jussel of Washington, Illinois; brother, Dave Jussel and wife, Vickie of Waddell, Arizona; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, 1 p.m. (MST), at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Bonnie McCord officiating.

There is no visitation, as cremation was chosen.

Memorials may be made to Wauneta Ambulance, EMT, and the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department.
