TRENTON, Nebraska -- Thelma Elaine Fleming, 93, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2011), at the El Dorado Manor Home in Trenton.

She was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Frontier County, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Clifford R. and Maude (Meyers) Phelps. Thelma grew up in Hitchcock County, south of Culbertson, Nebraska, where she received her education.

On June 29, 1934, Thelma married Joseph Owen Fleming in Oberlin, Kansas. The couple spent their married life farming east of Trenton until retiring in 1981 and moving to Trenton.

Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting afghans that she shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe on March 26, 1995; her parents; brothers, Robert, Donald and Wayne Phelps; and sisters, LaVerna Baumfalk and Verda Lewis.

Thelma is survived by one brother, Keith Phelps and wife, Doris of Decatur, Texas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. Interment is in the Trenton Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made in her name and left at Herrmann Funeral Home.
