McCOOK, Nebraska -- Raymond E. Bruner, 73, passed away Monday (Dec. 27, 2010), in Hastings, Nebraska.

Ray was born in Holyoke, Colorado Sept. 15, 1937, to Forest E. and Aletha L. (Daniels) Bruner.

While growing up, Ray attended school in Holyoke. He also worked as a mechanic for Gene Wells in Holyoke and for Haggard Drilling in Ogallala, Nebraska. Ray eventually relocated to Ocean Side, California where he was a maintenance worker for apartment complexes. He retired and moved to McCook in 2005.

Ray was a member of the McCook Eagles Club. He had a miniature car collection, and was an avid Husker fan. He also enjoyed hunting and working in his yard.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald Earl Bruner.

Ray is survived by his two children, Ricky and Christy Bruner; and four brothers, John and wife, Ginger Bruner of McCook, Robert and wife, Connie Bruner of Emmitt, Idaho, Floyd and wife, Elli Bruner of Great Falls, Montana, and Gene Bruner of Vista, California.

Memorials are suggested in his name to the McCook Eagle's Club Charities, 805 East B Street, McCook, NE 69001.

Funeral services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Pastor Jon Albrecht officiating. Ray will be cremated following the service and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
