McCOOK, Nebraska -- Art F. Stemper, 61, died Tuesday (Nov. 16, 2010), at his home in McCook.
He was born June 21, 1949, in Mountain View, Missouri, the son of the late Leonard and Verna (Chenoweth) Stemper. He grew up in Missouri where he received his education.
In 1988, Art married Joan Schafer. They made their home in Harvard, Nebraska where he worked for the farmers co-op elevator. They moved to Nelson, Nebraska before moving to Bartley, Nebraska. They moved to McCook in 1992 where he spent the remainder of his life. His greatest hobby was working on automobiles and playing pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Victor; sister, Catherine Rogers.
Art is survived by his wife, Joan Stemper of McCook; children, William Carey and wife, Misty of Concordia, Kansas, Wendy Ulmer of McCook, Rocefus Williams and wife, Sandy of Scandia, Kansas, Michelle Williams of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, and Kenneth Williams and wife, Kali of McCook; 15 grandchildren; brother, Leonard Stemper of Harvard, Nebraska; two sisters, Donna Richardson of Hastings, Nebraska, and Rose Ellen Johnson of Red Cloud, Nebraska; and relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Friday, 2 p.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Interment is in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be given in his name and left at the funeral home.
