CULBERTSON, Nebrasak -- Juanita Bunker, 85, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2010), at McCook Community Hospital.

She was born in Russell Springs, Kansas on Dec. 19, 1924, to John W. and May (Woods) Melton. She grew up in the Bartley area attending school and graduated Bartley High School in 1943.

On Jan. 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Vayle Bunker in Fort Worth, Texas. After marriage the couple lived in Wisconsin, and later moved to Nebraska, living in Hastings, McCook and Culbertson. Juanita was employed in McCook as a salesperson for Brown McDonalds Clothing Store, Montgomery Wards, Fashion City and Hested's.

Juanita and Vayle loved to travel. They belonged to the Good Sam's Club. They traveled from coast to coast and Mexico to Canada. In her leisure time Juanita enjoyed embroidery and doing crewel pictures. She belonged to the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lester Melton and his wife, Ethel; sisters-in-law, Lillian and Caroline Melton; brothers-in-law, Arlo and wife, Geraldine Burke, and Gilbert Melton; and son-in-law, Robert Sandman.

Survivors include her husband, Vayle of Culbertson; daughter, Linda Sandman of Cambridge, Nebraska; granddaughter, B. J. and husband, Gregg Puttergill of Tryon, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Duel Puttergill; two brothers, Roy and James Melton, both of McCook; and sister-in-law, Elanor Bunker of Currie, Minnesota.

Graveside inurnment is Wednesday, 2 p.m., in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge. Pastor Brian Perry will officiate the services.

Memorials may be left in Juanita's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
