Donna Lee Perkins

MAX, Nebraska -- Donna Lee Perkins, 73, died Sunday (Oct. 31, 2010), at El Dorado Manor in Trenton, Nebraska after battling cancer.
She was born April 23, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to Harold and Thelma (Beavers) Mikelson and raised by her grandparents, Jack and Ella Beavers. She attended school through the 10th grade before she married Harold L. Perkins. She completed her GED at a later date.
After living in Colorado Springs, Parker, and numerous other Colorado communities the couple settled on 40 acres near Bennett, Colorado. In 1998, they moved to Max. After retirement, they spent many winters in Arizona.
She was active and instrumental in bringing the Red Hatters to Max.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Jason Perkins.
Survivors include her husband, Harold "Perk" Perkins of Max; her daughter, Debbie Fendel and husband, Barry of Aurora, Colorado; her sons, Harold Wayne Perkins and wife, Ellen of Aurora; and Ken Perkins of Stratton, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Vikki Perkins.
Memorial services are Friday, 2 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with Larry Forch, Jr. officiating. A private inurnment is at a later date.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Max Community Club.
