Harold L. Hornkohl

DANBURY, Nebraska -- Harold L. Hornkohl, 86, died Monday (Oct. 25, 2010), at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
He was born May 2, 1924, in Marion, Nebraska, the son of the late Louis and Agnes (Shoemake) Hornkohl. Harold grew up in Marion and attended Marion High School.
Following his junior year he entered the U.S. Army in 1943, serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Marion. He became a grain dealer for Morris, Gregg and Mitchell Grain Company until his retirement. On May 9, 1953, Harold married Ramona Soderlund at Oberlin, Kansas. They have spent their married life in Marion. Harold had three fish ponds on his property and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert 'Bob' Hornkohl on July 21, 2004; his parents; two brothers, Ray and Cecil Hornkohl; and three sisters, Lena Harris, Ethel Hornkohl, and Edna Bales.
Harold is survived by his wife, Ramona Hornkohl of Marion; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services are Friday, 2 p.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook, Nebraska with the Rev. Keith Theobold officiating. Interment is in the Danbury and Marion Cemetery in Danbury.
Visitation is today and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Danbury Presbyterian Church.
