WILSONVILLE, Nebraska -- Ellen M. Miller, 100, died Tuesday (Oct. 18, 2010), at the home of her daughter in Lexington. She was born on the family farm near Wilsonville on May 23, 1910, to Niels Peter and Sine Jo (Holtze) Lang. Ellen went to country school. She helped do chores and farm work with her father and brothers.
On June 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to Robert Vaughan Miller at her parents homestead. Vaughan preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1999. The couple made their home near Wilsonville. To this union four daughters were born: Marlene Joy, Dixie Lynn, Joanne Kaye and Nancy Jane.
Living on the farm, Ellen enjoyed raising her garden. She enjoyed her family and friends. She belonged to the IHO Club (I Help Others) and was active in the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Wilsonville.
When Ellen's health failed, she moved to Lexington to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Jim and Dixie Bryan.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vaughan; daughter, Nancy Jane Lundak; four sisters, Lillian Lemaster, Anna Skiles, Hannah Washburn, and Delta Bennet; four brothers, Ervin Land, Edmond Lang, and infants, Daryl and Lavern; and son-in-law, Darrell Colquette.
She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Joy Colquette of Omaha, Nebraska, Diuxie Lynn and husband, James Bryan of Lexington, Joanne Kay and husband, Charles Mohr of Eagle, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Lela Colling of Kansas City, Missouri; and son-in-law, Joel Lundak of Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Funeral services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Wilsonville Methodist Church with Joel Lundak officiating. Interment will be in the Wilsonville Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday, 12-9 p.m., and Friday. 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
