OBERLIN, Kansas -- Lee D. Waldo, 87, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2010), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born March 12, 1923, to Dwight and Emma (Horkey) Waldo in Decatur County, Kansas. He was raised on a Decatur County farm and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1942.

He married Eula Eirckson in June of 1947, and Estella Wenger Harris on July 21, 1973.

He was in the Army Air Corp. He worked as a mail carrier and lived in Oberlin.

He was a member of the United Church of Oberlin and American Legion Post 70.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Emma; first wife, Eula; son, Dennis; and brother Wayne.

He is survived by his second wife, Estella Waldo of Oberlin; two sons, Gary Waldo of Oberlin, and Dale Waldo and wife, Emily of Salina, Kansas; two stepdaughters, Kathy and husband, Ken Darling of Sidney, Nebraska, and Patty Pollnow of Cave Creek, Arizona; brother Fred Waldo of Oberlin; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Paul's Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Judi Stricker officiating. Interment is in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the service.

Memorials can be left to the United Church of Oberlin or to the Decatur County Hospital.
