MANHATTAN BEACH, California -- Jimmy Dunn passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Manhattan Beach home on Sunday (Sept. 26, 2010), after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jimmy was born in Iowa, but grew up in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Navy as a transport pilot during WWII in the south pacific.

Jimmy was a commercial airline pilot for Western Airlines in the 1940s after the war when he met a Nebraska beauty named Eva Coburn in Denver, Colorado. She was a stewardess for Western, based in Denver, as was Jimmy, and they fell in love.

Eva was the daughter of John and Valeria Coburn of Indianola, Nebraska. In 1951, Jimmy and Eva married and settled in Southern California. It was there that they lived for the 56 years they were married. Eva died in 2007.

Jimmy felt really blessed to find such a wonderful wife and adored her Nebraska family.

Jimmy and Eva are survived by their two children, Mike and Michelle; a granddaughter, Jamie; Eva's sister, Rosalie Coburn Wittman and husband, Paul; and brother, Lowell Coburn and wife, Twila Shreiber.

Services are pending.

Condolences may be sent to the Dunn Family, 324 23rd Street, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
