Bob 'Robert' H. Porter
COLUMBIA FALLS, Montana -- Bob "Robert" H. Porter, 80, died Wednesday (Sept. 22, 2010), at Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.
He was born to Hervey and Doris Porter in Parks, Nebraska. At an early age, Bob and his family moved to McCook, where he attended kindergarten and graduated from McCook High School in 1948. He graduated from McCook Junior College in 1950.
He later received his bachelor's degree from California State University at Ventura, California. He worked as a probation officer and became superintendent of a juvenile hall.
Bob married Velma McCartny and later married Dee Bennett. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leslie; and wife, Dee Bennett Porter.
Bob is survived by his sons, Mike Porter and wife, Sue of Kalispell, Montana, Todd Porter and wife, June of Wallace, Nebraska; sister, Phyllis Agner and husband, David of Kalispell; brother, Gerry Porter and wife, Barbara of Kingston, Washington; and step children, Tom and wife, Tina of Tucker Island, Maryland, Donna Tanzella and husband, Francis of San Francisco, California, Joy Sakariason and husband, Terry, Joe Bennett, Terri Bennett, Don Bennett and wife, Michelle, all of Kalispell.
A private family service will be at a later date.
