ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Robert H. Haussler, 82, of Cambridge, Nebraska, died on Monday (Sept. 6, 2010), at his home at Medicine Creek Reservoir.

He was born in Furnas County, Nebraska on Nov. 7, 1927, to August and Anna (Mues) Haussler.

He grew up on the Muddy Creek north of Arapahoe. He married Carol Menze in the spring of 1947 and they farmed on the family farm. They had three children. They later seperated.

On Aug. 22, 1987, he married Doii (Bowen) Johnson of Norton, Kansas.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and Holbrook Lion's Club of Holbrook, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Doii on Jan. 27, 1997; parents; brothers, August Jr., Albert, and Victor; and sisters, Dorothy Fisher and Alice Hilker.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Haussler of Arapahoe and Steven Haussler of Axtell, Nebraska; daughter, Merrie Nickel of Kearney, Nebraska; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; and long-time special friend, Joyce Hilker of Cambridge, Nebraska.

Funeral services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial is at the St. Matthews Cemetery in rural Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, and prior to services at the church.
