CURTIS, Nebraska -- Betty June (Florom) Knox, 77, died Friday (Sept 3, 2010) at Wilber Care Center in Wilber, Nebraska.
She was born on May 26, 1933 to Hazen and Aletha (Schnase) Florom in Curtis.
She went to school in Curtis and graduated from UNSA in 1951. She received her teaching certificate and taught in a country school west of Maywood for a couple of years.
On Sept. 17, 1954, she married Crete Knox at the United Methodist Church in Curtis, to this union two children were born.
The couple lived in Wellfleet, Nebraska after they were married in 1954, and later moved to North Platte, Nebraska and then moved on to Curtis where she raised her family. They were owners of CK Appliance Store and Curtis Lanes Bowling Alley until they retired. She moved to Crete in 2009 to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Crete.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazen and Aletha; husband, Crete; and brothers, George and Marvin Florom.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and husband, Michael Stehlik of Crete; son, Ronald and wife, Shelly Knox of Lafayette, Colorado; sister, Mary Lou Vreeland of Curtis; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and an aunt.
Funeral services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Lana Fong officiating. Interment will follow in the Wellfleet Cemetery in Wellfleet, Nebraska.
Visitation is Wednesday, 12--8 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
