Irma Isabelle Haas

BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Irma Isabelle Haas, 86, died Tuesday (July 27, 2010) at Beaver City Manor after suffering a stroke on July 13, 2010.
She was born April 13, 1924, on a farm south of Stamford, Nebraska, to Merlin T. and Rena (Marble) Perkins. The family moved to Arthur County, Nebraska, before moving to the Precept area south of Beaver City in 1941.
She attended various schools before graduating from Beaver City High School in 1942. She attended Kearney Teachers College and taught rural county school south of Beaver City.
She taught until she married Edward C. Haas and they lived on a farm south of Beaver City for five years after marriage before moving to a farm six miles north of Beaver City. They farmed until 1974 when they retired and moved into Beaver City.
She was a member of First Christian Church, VFW Women's Auxiliary, Community Senior Center, and she served on the county election board north of Beaver City.
She moved to Beaver City Manor in September 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed on April 7, 1982; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Haas and wife, Sally of Keedysville, Maryland, and James Haas of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Shirley and husband, Douglas Kozak of Wilber, Nebraska; sister, Elsie Conner of Stamford; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at First Christian Church in Beaver City with the Rev. John Sievering officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.
Viewing and Visitation is Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, and Friday prior to services at the church.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church and Beaver City Senior Center in her memory. Memorials can be left at the church or at the funeral home.
