Marcia Brown

GRANT, Nebraska -- Marcia Brown, 68, died Thursday (July 22, 2010) at Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant.
She was born on March 8, 1942 in Trenton to George and Eleanor Keller Brown. She grew up in Trenton where she graduated in 1960.
After graduating she moved to Denver and was employed by Martin Marietta as a secretary for two years. In 1962, she moved to San Francisco where she worked as a secretary until 1969. She lived in Texas for two years and, in 1971, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a customer service manager for a garment manufacturer. In 2005, she retired and moved to Grant to be closer to family.
While in California, she did volunteer work for inner-city tutoring programs and abused women shelters.
She had developed a malignancy in mid-2010 and had been transferred to the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor of Trenton; four sisters, Wanda Lewis of Trenton, Donna Whetstone of Hamden, Ohio, Sandra and her husband, William Knapp of Silverdale, Washington, and Connie Skeels of Grant; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. (MDT), at the Grant Senior Center with John Long officiating. A reception will follow the service at the senior center.
Cremation was chosen.
