IMPERIAL, Nebraska -- Lola Valeria Alsbury, 92, died Friday (July 23, 2010) at Good Samaritan Care Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado.

She was born Jan. 6, 1918, to William R. and Grace E. (Moreland) Nicholson. She grew up and attended school in Beaver City, graduating from Beaver City High School in 1936.

She taught country school, where she met Dundy County farmer, Everett E. Alsbury at a school function. The couple was united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1940, and to this union two children were born. They settled on a farm in Dundy County.

The couple farmed and were proprietors of Alsbury Fertilizer until their retirement in the early '80s.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Imperial.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett in 1990; parents; five sisters; three brothers; and close companion Clarence Jaeger in 2009.

She is survived by son, Carroll and wife, Jackie of Fort Collins; daughter, Jean Flaherty and husband, Gordon of Minturn, Colorado; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were today at the United Methodist Church in Imperial with the Rev. Fred Andersen, Dr. Daniel Marshall, and Melody Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
