Even the wild spin-and-dip of a double-tub carnival ride in flight doesn't discourage 12-year-old Michaela Holdcroft of Cambridge from texting. She and her friend, Cassie McCoy, also of Cambridge, were riding the rides Wednesday evening during the Furnas County fair in Beaver City. (Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Daily Gazette)

  • This actually makes me kind of sad. Put down the phone and just be a kid!

  • Being a kid went out of style when the paranoia of your kids being kidnapped become popular.

Parents started to find more comfort knowing their kids were home and on the computer instant messaging multiple friends at one time rather then out of sight not know what was going on.

Now messenger is out of style but texting is in. Still have multiple conversations but don't have to be on your computer.
