McCOOK, Nebraska -- Glenn Joseph Reiners, 85, died on Wednesday (July 14, 2010) at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born in Indianola on Oct. 23, 1924, to Emma (Crocker) and John Henry Reiners. He attended District No. 27 rural school through eighth grade and graduated from Red Willow High School in 1942.

Glenn entered the Army in 1944, serving under Patton's Third Army in the Battle of the Bulge. He received his honorable discharge in 1946 and returned to the family farm.

He was united in marriage on July 31, 1948, to Catherine Chapman at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton. They purchased the family farm, but were forced to sell it in 1964 because of Glenn's health. They then purchased the Soo Paw Motel in Trenton.

Upon retirement, Glenn enjoyed golf and traveling in their motor home. He is a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Grace Stritt, Stella Pratt, Mae Karp and Sister Alice Catherine, C.P.P.S.; and brothers, Eugene and Franklin.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Reiners of McCook; one daughter, Glenda and husband, Mark Fletcher of McCook; five sons, Robert and wife, Brenda of Plainville, Kansas, Dennis and wife, Marla of Trenton, Thomas and wife, Mary of Plattsmouth, William and wife, Judy of Colorado City, Colorado, and Ronald and wife, Karen of Sterling, Colorado; three sisters, Luella McConville and Nellie McConville, both of McCook, and Sister Madelene Reiners, C.P.P.S. of O'Fallon, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary will be Friday, 7 p.m., at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until time of rosary.
