ST. PAUL, Nebraska -- (Eva) Marie Christensen, 94, died Sunday (July 11, 2010) at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Marie Christensen was born April 13, 1916, to John and Elvina (Jensen) Rojewski in St. Paul, Nebraska.
She attended school in St. Paul. The family moved to Ogallala and lived there for one year and then returned to St. Paul. Marie graduated from St. Paul High School in 1934.
Marie worked as a telephone operator and also as a theater usher.
She was united in marriage to Arnold Christensen on Sept. 16, 1940 in St. Paul, Nebraska. To this union six children were born.
Marie worked as a clerk at Brehm Rexall Drug Store in St. Paul until retirement. She was also a mom working at home and taking care of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, the Extension Club and also a Cub Scout Den Mother, Boy Scout Leader, and Girl Scout Leader.
Marie enjoyed crafts, quilting, embroidering and latch-hooking. She also loved to read and enjoyed her coffee group. Her top priorities were being a mom and grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Roger Christensen and Terry Christensen, both of Grand Island, Nebraska; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Eldon Mock of Holbrook, Nebraska, Kathleen Barwald of St. Joseph, Nebraska, and Kristine and Rod Dell of Alliance, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Jens "Jim" and Jan Rojewski of Alma, Nebraska; one sister, Phyllis Woodward of Omaha, Nebraska; and one sister-in-law, Luella Christensen of Chadron, Nebraska.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold in 1989; a son, John 'Jack' Christensen; a grandson, Scott Mock; and a brother, John 'Bud' Rojewski.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Don Voorhees will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4--8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
