Susanna Maria Sophia Leibbrandt

MADISON, Wisconsin -- Susanna Maria Sophia (Esslinger) Leibbrandt, 95, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, died on Thursday (July 8, 2010) at Hebron Oaks Nursing Home, Oakwood Village in Madison, Wisconsin.
Susanna was born to Rudolph and Alma A.K. (Helms) Esslinger on Dec. 7, 1914, in Gosper County, near Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, and was also confirmed at Immanuel on June 12, 1929.
She was united in marriage to Elmer G. Leibbrandt on March 4, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran in Arapahoe. To this union one son was born, Vernon Dean Leibbrandt.
Susanna was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Madison and Oakwood Lutheran Service League of Madison. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook for 40 years before moving to Madison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Leibbrandt; parents, Rudolph and Alma Esslinger; and five brothers, Walter, Edgar, George, William and Alvin Esslinger.
She leaves her son Vernon and wife, Judy Leibbrandt of Madison; two grandsons, Justin and wife, Lynn Leibbrandt, and Eric and wife, Autumn Leibbrandt, both of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; three great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Martin and wife, Lois Leibbrandt of Imperial, Nebraska, and Lewis and wife, Doris Leibbrandt of McCook, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Abby Esslinger of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Visitation will be Monday, until 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, until 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
