TRENTON, Nebraska -- Rick Hedke, 57, died Saturday (June 12, 2010) at his home in Trenton.
He was born Aug. 27, 1952, in McCook, the son of the late Ray and Elsie Tressa (Blue) Hedke. He grew up in Trenton where he graduated from Trenton High School in 1970. He graduated from Kearney State College in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
In January 1976 he married Cynthia Carman. He began a 23-year career with Burlington Northern Railroad while working in the farming industry. In 2001, he became the Hitchcock County Weed Superintendent and later became president of the Southwest Weed Management area. In January 2010, he was appointed acting weed superintendent of Dundy County.
He is survived by three sons, Dustin Hedke of Fort Collins, Colorado, Quentin Hedke and Lacey Wilson of Trenton, and Andrew Hedke and Michelle Reiners of McCook; and relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Trenton with the Rev. Johnnie Walker officiating. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be today at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton until 9 p.m. The casket will not be opened at the church.
