OBERLIN, Kansas -- Donald Barratt, 66, died Sunday (June 13, 2010) at the Decatur County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 10, 1943, to Robert and Josephine (Fields) Barratt on a farm near Oberlin. He attended Vallonia School and Decatur Community High School, graduating in 1961.

He served in the Nebraska National Guard. He worked as a mechanic and farmer.

He married Reta Vacura on Feb. 21, 1965, in Oberlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Josephine Barratt; and father-in-law, Frank Vacura.

He is survived by his wife, Reta Barratt of Oberlin; mother-in-law, Margaret Vacura of Oberlin; three daughters, Krystal Barratt of McCook, Laci Barratt and fiancé, Jesse Larkins of Hays, and Amber Barratt of Hays; one sister; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin. Interment will follow at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the service.
