BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- Virginia Elizabeth (Frasier) Dixon died Saturday (June 5, 2010) in Loveland, Colorado.
She was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1924, the fifth child of Alma Charity (Bernard) and Claude Oliver Frasier, at the Frasier family ranch in Sleepy Hollow, Dundy County, Nebraska.
She attended Ash Grove School and Benkelman High School. After graduating from Benkelman High School in '42, she briefly taught school at Ash Grove School.
On Aug. 13, 1944, she was married to Maurice Marshall Dixon. Together they moved onto a ranch three miles from her birth place.
She was a member of the Ash Grove Ladies Club and the Benkelman United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 6, 1999; grandparents, Elizabeth (Ayres) and Hiram Bernard, Cynthia (Ryckman) and William "Mart" Frasier; her parents Alma and Claude; four brothers, Wilber, Kenneth, Merle and C.O. Frasier and her sister Ena (Phipps) Frasier.
Survivors include her sons, Maurice M. Dixon Jr., Mark A. Dixon and wife, Lisa; sister-in-law, Duanne Dixon; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Benkelman, with the Rev. Brien Fong officiating. Interment will be at the Benkelman Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
