John J. Adams

ATWOOD, Kansas -- John J. Adams, 90, died May 24, 2010.
He was born May 30, 1919, to Oscar and Euphemia (Senecal) Adams in Plainville, Kansas. He was educated in Plainville before joining the Army during World War II. He served in the South Pacific.
After his service he moved to Atwood where he worked with his uncle at Senecal Chevrolet. He later owned and operated Adams Ford with his son, Joe.
He was united in marriage to Martha L. Williams at Sacred Heart Church in Atwood on May 20, 1946.
He was a lifetime member of K of C Council No. 3033 where he served as the financial secretary and later as the district deputy. He was also a member of VFW and the American Legion. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Atwood.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Euphemia; first wife, Martha; second wife, Doris; brother, Francis Adams; three sisters, Romana Abra, Margo Tredwell, and Theresa Meis.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Adams and wife, Connie of Atwood; two daughters, Priscilla Mai and husband, Alan of Chandler, Arizona, and Marilyn Pratt of Olathe, Kansas; three sisters Pauline Kaiser of Salina, Kansas, Veronica Oberle of Claflin, Kansas, and Rita Hall of Federal Way, Washington; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are on Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Stephen Folorunso officiating. The interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
The rosary service will be today beginning at 7 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.
Memorials cab be made in his name to Atwood City Library and St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, Kansas.
