Evelyn Staudenmaier
ANDOVER, Kansas -- Evelyn Staudenmaier, 72, passed away May 9, 2010 at the Life Care Center Nursing Home of Andover, Kansas.
She suffered a long illness that put her in Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home in Crawford, Nebraska in 2005. In March 2008, she moved to Wichita, Kansas to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jay Johnson. She remained in their home care until August 2009 when she required more skilled care and moved to the Life Care Center.
Evelyn was married to George Staudenmaier in 1974. She loved her life in the country and enjoyed seeing her nieces and nephews grow up around her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Staudenmaier; father, Tommy Knotts; mother, Bessie Pickel; step-father, Alva Pickel; brother, Donald Knotts; and all grandparents. Also preceding her is previous husband, Willie Piper.
She leaves to mourn her passing, members of the Staudenmaier family; nieces and nephews and many friends in the Crawford/Harrison, Nebraska area; her sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jay Johnson of Wichita; nephews, Art Gallington of Benkelman, Nebraska, Cliff and Wendy Gallington of Hays, Kansas, Dave Gallington of Wilcox, Nebraska, Bradley and Sandy Knotts of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Greg and Kathy Knotts of Houston, Texas, and Travis and Amanda Johnson of Derby, Kansas.
She requested that she be taken "home" for her final resting place to the Knotts/Pickel grave sites in Sutherland Cemetery, in Sutherland, Nebraska. There she will rest in peace, next to her beloved brother, Donald, and her mother, father, and grandparents.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Sutherland Cemetery.
