WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Betty Marie (Jaycox) Mintling, 84, died May 17, 2010, at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska.

She was born, Jan. 12, 1926, in Holyoke, Colorado, to Bertrand and Beulah (Beam) Jaycox. She attended Pleasant Valley Country School.

On June 9, 1949, she married Riley P. Mintling at the Congregational Church in Hayes Center, Nebraska.

After marriage, the couple first lived in Hayes Center, and later moved to Palisade in 1956 before settling in Wauneta in 1981.

She was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church and the Palisade Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband Riley in 2002, and daughter Pamra Carlene.

Survivors include her son, R.J. and wife, Jana of Wauneta; her two daughters, Penny Smith and husband, Philip of Pampa, Texas, and Polly Mintling of Los Osos, California; three sisters, Lois Fernstrom of Yakama, Washington, Wanda Jaycox of Sterling, Colorado, and Alberta Karriker and husband, Donnie of Cortez, Colorado; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A life celebration will be announced at a later date later.
