Virgel Lee 'Virg' Lorance

WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Virgel Lee "Virg" Lorance, 69, died May 14, 2010 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Wray, Colorado to Lewis Price and Cressie Mae (Carr) Lorance. He grew up in Wray and attended Wray High School where he graduated in 1961.
On Oct. 1, 1961, he married Kay Mumm in Wray. To this union four children were born: Brad, Randy, Brenda and Kailee.
The couple also lived in Holyoke for a short time before moving their family to the Imperial/Wauneta area in 1970 where Virgel was employed at Haggard Drilling in Imperial. He later worked overseas in Saudi Arabia drilling water wells.
He returned to Chase County where he worked for Frenchman Valley Farmers Co-op in Imperial and the Hamlet Elevator.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; two sons, Brad Lorance, and Randy Lorance; parents; and three brothers, Lester Lorance, Marvin Lorance, and Alfred Lorance.
Survivors include two daughters, Kailee Kerber of Arvada, Colorado and Brenda Shill of Wauneta; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the American Legion Hall in Wauneta with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
