Betty Margaret Stroup

BENKELMAN - Betty Margaret Stroup, 78, died Sunday (Feb. 21, 2010) at the Dundy County Hospital due to cancer.
She was born March 18, 1931, in St. Francis, Kan., to William and Carolina (Fiekert) Keller. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Francis. She attended the District 25 country school located just north of St. Francis.
On April 10, 1955, she married Boyd Stroup at Trinity Lutheran Church. She spent many years working as a nurse's aid both at the Morehouse and Dundy County Hospital.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild and crocheted afghans for the Luther League raffles.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Carolina Keller; infant brother, Wilmut; three brothers, Willard, Alfred, and Raymond Keller and one sister, Hilda Hammond.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd; daughter Rhonda and husband, Ray Kaiser; sons, Steven and wife, Julie Stroup and Stanley and wife, Janice Stroup; sisters, Lela Watts, Wilma Bartels and Alice Filbert; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman with the Rev. George Matthews officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.
Visitation is today, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman.
In lieu of usual remembrances, it is suggested that memorials be given in her name to the Dundy County Hospital.
