SELDEN -- Carol R. Shaw, 91, died Tuesday (Feb. 9, 2010), at Sheridan County Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie, Kan.
She was born Nov. 27, 1918, at Phillips County, Kan., to Frank and Eunice (Pruitt) Ward. She was raised in Glade, Kan., and attended Speed High School.
On May 14, 1937, she married Floyd Shaw at Logan, Kan. They lived on a farmstead northwest of Selden, moving to Selden in 1988. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, Selden Rose and Garden Club and the Selden Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Carl and Harold; and grandchildren, Justin Shaw and Trisha, Trevor and Travis Haas.
Survivors include five sons, Stanley and wife, Ramona of Jennings, Kan., Ron of Selden, Steve and wife, Joni of Selden, Scott and wife, Janet of Hoxie, and Rick and wife, Tammy of Selden; a daughter, Sandra and husband, Doug Wedermyer of WaKeeney; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Burial will follow at the Selden Cemetery.
Vigil is today, 7:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at the funeral home and Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the church.
