Mona V. Faimon of McCook, 76, died Monday (Jan. 25, 2010) at Heartland Park Retirement Community in Seward.

Mona was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in Rosemont to Carl and Ida (Hoppen) Wilhelms. She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1951.

On Aug. 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Faimon. To this union four children were born. They settled on a farm south of Stratton where together they farmed for 43 years. After their retirement, they moved to McCook in 1996.

Mona was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Besides being a busy mother and homemaker, Mona loved to spend time with friends. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Laughlin, Nev., where they spent many winters, and her true passion going to the casinos.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Ida Wilhelms; her husband, Richard Faimon on Sept. 19, 2000; one brother, Roy Wilhelms and one sister, Doris Adams.

Survivors include her children, Tom Faimon and wife, Teri of Stratton, Daniel Faimon and wife, Deanna of Wilber, Bruce Faimon and wife, Debra of Seward and Barb and husband, Ken Woodruff of Seward; nine grandchildren, Greg, Jenna, Lisa and Jordan Faimon, Brittani Faimon, Christopher and Michelle Faimon and Alyson and Ryan Woodruff; three sisters, Norma and husband, Dawson Easter of Sacramento, Calif., Irma Nejezchleb of Hastings and Eleanor Jensen of Norton, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Luella Wilhelms of Blue Hill; one brother-in-law, John Adams of Atwood, Kan.; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The rosary will be today, 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be today until time of rosary
