Warren Francis Farrell died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Santa Marta Skilled Living Home in Olathe, Kan. He was 85 years old.

Warren was born on April 21, 1924, in Bartley, to Francis Joseph and Genevieve Rose (McAdams) Farrell. He graduated from Lebanon High School.

He entered the U.S. Navy on July 1, 1943, and served in the Southern Pacific as a Pharmacist's Mate Second Class during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 1, 1946.

After his service to his country, he continued his education at Creighton University in Omaha. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy.

On Aug. 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marian Louise McKillip at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. To this union four children were born. Their first child Mary Jo was stillborn. They made their home in McCook where Warren was owner and pharmacist of Farrell's Pharmacy until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association, American Legion and McCook Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle and experimental aircrafts.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Francis and Genevieve Farrell; daughter, Mary Jo Farrell; three brothers, Leonard, Jim and Bernard Farrell and sister-in-law, Alice Farrell.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian Farrell of McCook now living in Olathe, Kan.; sons, Matthew Farrell and wife, Rebecca, of Denver, Colo., Patrick Farrell and wife, Leigh of McCook and Dr. Daniel Farrell and wife, Dr. Kathy Farrell, of Leawood, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Farrell of Mesa, Ariz. and Roseann Farrell of North Platte; six grandchildren, Ryan, Paul, Chris, Lauren, Christopher, and Nicholas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Knights of Columbus.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of rosary and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rosary will be Thursday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Jan. 29, 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with an honorary military committal.
