OMAHA -- Allen Everett Morthole, 81, died Monday (Jan. 11, 2010) at the Imanuel Hospital in Omaha.

He was born April 20, 1928, at Culbertson, the son of the late Louis J. and Agnes Caroline (Eggeling) Morthole. He grew up at Culbertson and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1945. He began working for the Equifax Credit Company.

In July 1950 he married Shirley J. Mather.

On Nov. 20, 1950, Allen entered the US Army serving during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to McCook before returning to Omaha in 1955 where he continued working as an office specialist for 40 years with Equifax.

He was a member of the Pacific Hills Lutheran Church in Omaha and the 40 and 8 Historical Society since 1972.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Werner Morthole.

Survivors include one daughter, Venee I. Morthole of Silver Springs, Md.; one son, Kameron A. Morthole and wife, Carol of Henderson; one brother, Garrett Morthole and wife, Virginia of Denver, Colo.; relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Brad Rick officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until time of service.

Memorials may be given in his name.
