Walmart grand reopening Wednesday
McCook's Walmart Supercenter will open its doors on the finished product of a three-month remodeling project with a a grand re-opening ceremony Wednesday at 8 a.m.
McCook Mayor Dennis Berry, McCook Chamber of Commerce Director Pam Harsh and 20-plus-year store associates will join in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. To help with the celebration, a local Boy Scout troop will post the colors as members from the McCook High School Marching Bison Band perform the National Anthem.
During the ceremony, store associates will present grant checks from the Walmart Foundation to local service organizations, including St. Patrick's Catholic Church and School, the Optimists Club, McCook Fire Department, McCook Sertoma, McCook Arts Council, local Headstart organization, the McCook of Nebraska Health and Human Services, McCook Chamber of Commerce and McCook, Cambridge, Trenton, Oberlin, Southwest and Arapahoe schools.
In addition, Walmart will recognize the McCook Elementary kindergarten class for winning the "Recycle Grade School Challenge." The winning class has been invited to come and help lead the Walmart cheer.
Cake and punch will be served to the public.
