BEAVER CITY -- Harold C. Inman, 88, of Beaver City, formerly of Stamford, died Friday (July 10, 2009) at Harlan County Hospital at Alma.

He was born Feb. 22, 1921, at Beaver City to Benjamin and Nellie (Allender) Inman. He grew up in Beaver City and graduated from Beaver City High School in 1938. He worked at CC Camp in Beaver City for a couple of years.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 14, 1942, and served until Sept. 1, 1945. He received the Bronze Star while in the service.

On April 17, 1949, he married Lena Leiding. He worked for First State Bank in Beaver City. In 1954, he worked for Stamford Bank at Stamford until 1972, when he started to work at Becton-Dickenson at Holdrege until the mid 1980s, when he retired. He continued to live in Stamford. His wife died Dec. 8, 2000. He moved to Beaver City Plaza in 2007 and to the Beaver City Assisted Living in September of 2008, where he resided at the time of death.

He was a member of Faith Community Church at Beaver City and American Legion Post No. 233 of Stamford. He served on the Stamford City Council for several years and was active with the Stamford Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lena and brother, the Rev. Tom Inman.

Survivors include his two sons, Douglas Inman of Omaha and Scott Inman of Stamford; daughter, Trudy and husband, Dan Bose of Oxford; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were today at Faith Community Church in Beaver City with the Revs. Dwain Fowler and Dave Hunt officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City with military honors provided by American Legion Post 233 of Stamford.
