McCook High School football, basketball, volleyball, tennis camp dates announced
McCook Bison youth football camp June 1-4
The McCook Bison Football Team will be hosting its annual Championship Football Camp from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 1-4 (Monday through Thursday).
The camp, which will take place at the McCook Senior high practice field directly behind McCook High School, will feature many of the players that helped McCook reach five out of the last eight state football championship games and the last seven state semifinals.
This camp is designed for grades 2-8 (fall of 2009). Boys and girls are welcome.
Cost is $40 and registrations will be accepted until camp starts.
Forms may be picked up at the Sports Shoppe and McCook High School and have bent sent to the children's schools.
The camp will be run by head coach Jeff Gross and some of the McCook Bison championship staff. In addition, many of the current and past Bison players will be there making this a very fun experience.
McCook Bison football is coming off another storied season. In 2008, the Bison football team finished the season 11-1 and made the state semifinals. The Bison are 84-5 in the last seven years and have been state champions twice and state runner-ups three times in that span.
Coach Jeff Gross and his staff would like to give the youth of the area an introduction and understanding to McCook Bison football.
"The current and past players take pride in their program and they would like to pass this on to the next generation of football players," Gross said.
"McCook Bison Football operates on one main philosophy -- we are one -- and this is an opportunity to be a part of our football family."
This is a non-contact camp. All campers will be taught beginning fundamentals of playing football.
Skills taught include, passing, receiving, running, cutting, punting, kicking, blocking and tackling.
No equipment is necessary. Cleats are not needed. All campers will receive instruction, and a camp football.
Bison boys basketball camp June 15-18
The Bison boys girls and boys basketball camp will be June 15-18 at the McCook High School gym.
The camp is open for boys and girls from kindergarten to sixth grade and for boys only from grades 7-12. The cost of the camp is $40.
Registrations will be accepted up to the day of camp and walk-ins are welcome.

Bison Volleyball Camp
takes place June 8-10
The 2009 Bison Volleyball Camp is scheduled for June 8-10 at the McCook Senior High gym.
The camp will be conducted by head coach Krystal Weber, assistant coaches and both current and former high school players.
The camp is open to all girls entering grades 2-8 next fall. Registration is due June 1.
Forms were sent home with the McCook Elementary and Central students and can also be picked up at the McCook Junior High and Sports Shoppe.

Bison Tennis Camp
registration starts Friday
The 2009 Bison Tennis Camp starts June 8 and concludes July 23 and will take place at the McCook High School Bison Tennis Courts.
Tennis fundamentals will be stressed along with match play experience and instruction will be given by MHS coach Matt Wiemers.
Sessions will be split into two sessions according to age and ability and will take place from 8-9:15 or 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday-Wednesday and Tuesday-Thursday. If needed to keep group numbers low, an afternoon session may be offered.
Cost of the camp is $110 and will include a camp T-shirt. Registration and fee deadline is Friday.
